Sound Effects (FX)

This is a Growing Collection of Sound F/X that I have put together for various plays.

These are primarily done in Logic, which is my go-to DAW.

Bocon! - A children's play, produced by ENC, c. 2002
For these sound effects, I did recordings with the cast, as there were dream sequences in the play that were supposed to be of the actors doing different things. So I recorded the actual actors doing their parts and had them interact with sounds live.

I recorded and mixed this in ProTools.

Animal sounds

Beast and Wolves - Beauty and the Beast, Hull High School Production (c. 2003)

This is a recording of students playing the beast and wolves for a high school production of Beauty and the Beast. We recorded and mixed all in the classroom. The students were actually quite glad to howl and make the animal sounds. I mixed them all together, pitch-shifted a few, and with some editing, delays, and reverb, this is the end product.

Stalk Climbing Music - Jack and the Beanstalk, Hull High School production (c. 2004)

I was looking for fantastical sounds while Jack was climbing up the beanstalk to the Giant’s castle.

In this you get to hear the cliched whole tone scale on vibes, and a theremin.

Elephant Squeal - Suessical, Jr. , Hull High School Production(c. 2009)

When Horton is calling for attention in a very frantic scene, he finally blows his trunk. I’ve put delays on it to make it cut through and sound a little more fantastical.
